Get your yahoos out
With the Greatest Outdoor Show on earth comes a wash of noise that is hard to escape. From marching bands to fireworks to drunken brawls on the street, sometimes it feels like there is no escape. If you want to hear something else, here are five great recent albums to get you through 24 hours of Stampedin’ without resorting to a tear in your beer.

· Suppertime – Mood music: Ian Tyson – Songs From the Gravel Road

When the dust settles on life’s cattle drive you grow as reflective as a mountain pond.

· Sunset – Honky-tonk hero music: Tom Phillips and the Men of Constant Sorrow – King of the Broken Heart: Live at the Ironwood Stage and Grill.

If you can’t get to the honky-tonk, let it dance on over to you.

· Midnight – Barn dancing in a stranger’s arms: Justin Rutledge – No Never Alone. Breathtaking insights in heartbreaking lines.

· Noon – Waking up hungry, hungover and alone: NQ Arbuckle – The Last Supper in a Cheap Town. From wistful to wily to wild, but always witty.

· Afternoon – Riding away from it all: Latigo – The Drifter. Music that opens up and invites all the mountain and sky Alberta can hold to come inside.
