DAVID VANDERVELDE
The Moonstation House Band
Secretly Canadian

· His top myspace friends include Jay Bennett (who played on the album) and Bobby Bare, Jr.

It’s no accident that this record is called The Moonstation House Band, because this is space-age musicology, amplified. The structure is simple and punctuated with well-timed highs and lows, each song moving harmoniously into the next.

A little bit Air, a little bit Bowie and even a little bit Strawberry Alarm Clock, at times David Vandervelde’s potent vocals and communicable charisma don’t seem of this earth or era.

A fun party record to have in the mix, guests will no doubt inquire about the artist each time one of his tunes pops through the speakers. "Moonlight Instrumental," the last of Moonstation’s eight tracks, is the perfect nightcap to any nocturnal gathering – its only flaw being that at almost six minutes long, it still seems infinitely too short.
